Jennifer Carver, OD, MBA, FONS (ANG)

Lt Col Jennifer Carver is currently serving as the Optometrist for the 165th ALW in Savannah, Georgia, where she has served the GA ANG for over 9 years. She currently oversees the optometric medical readiness and visual management of over 1200 ANG personnel.

Lt Col Carver has deployed on the medical humanitarian missions; Appalacian Care in Bryson City, NC, Hope of Martin in Martin, TN, Tropic Care in Kauai, HI and Smokey Mountain Medical in Hayesvlle, NC.

Dr. Carver earned her fellowship in Ocular Nutrition, as well as, an MBA. She was 1 of 3 winners nationwide for this full tuition scholarship provided through the National Guard Association and University of Phoenix. With her passion in nutrition, Dr. Carver has completed a Baking Pastry Culinary degree at Savannah Culinary Institute and is close to completion of a Culinary Degree. For civilian optometric service, Dr. Carver provides free eye examination to low-income Georgia residents as part of a grant through Prevent Blindness Georgia. Since 2007, she annually administers over 1000 examinations and screenings for disease for those in need within the state of Georgia.

Lt Col Carver completed Reserve Commission Officer Training School where she received the Top Female Physical Fitness award and was also in the Honor Squadron. She finished Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College by correspondence. Lt Col Carver is a Missouri native and graduated from University of Missouri-St Louis School of Optometry and obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.

In 2015, Lt Col Carver was awarded the Air Force Medical Service BSC Officer of the Year. She was selected as the AFOS Reserve OD of the Year in 2014. She has also received the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal.
