AFOS Member, Dr. Timothy Morand, will present a 1-hr COPE accredited CE course titled "Averted Vision Training to Treat Light Sensitivity of Veterans with a History of TBI".
This course reviews a novel averted vision training (AVT) technique for improving light sensitivity in Veterans with traumatic brain injury, highlighting recent research supporting its effectiveness and objective measurement through microperimetry.
Timothy Morand, OD, FAAO
Dr. Morand graduated from the Ohio State University College of Optometry. Following 20 years of private practice, he spent more than 20 years working for the Department of Veterans Affairs at medical centers first in Cincinnati and then Dayton before retiring in November 2023.
As part of his work in the low vision clinic at the Dayton VA Medical Center he managed visual training for Veterans returning from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and was the recipient of two research grants to investigate those with history of traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Morand continues to be passionate about continuing optometric education and research. He lives in Yellow Springs, Ohio and enjoys running (completed the Boston marathon in 2023) cooking, hiking, golf, the study of archeoastronomy (and kids’ sports events).
