LCDR Hanna Fylpaa earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2010 and graduated with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2014. She completed an optometric residency at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico before moving to Juneau , Alaska to work at the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium. She commissioned as a Lieutenant in the USPHS in 2016. She continues her career at SEARHC, providing care primarily in Juneau, with frequent field travel to villages around the region. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, was Chair of the IHS National Diabetic Eye Care Committee and is the 2022 Chair for the Optometry Professional Advisory Group.
