Chagas Disease: Pathogenesis and Romaña’s Sign".
This course will provide a comprehensive clinical overview of Chagas disease, covering its transmission, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, with particular emphasis on risks and considerations for U.S. military personnel and military working dogs in endemic regions.
Colonel Chan Webster is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry and the U.S. Army War College who has served the U.S. Army in both enlisted and officer roles for nearly four decades. He currently commands Public Health Command–West at Joint Base San Antonio–Fort Sam Houston and has held numerous leadership positions in the United States and Germany, including commander, department chief, and service chief of optometry. COL Webster holds a Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Optometry, and Master of Strategic Studies degree, and his military education includes the Army War College, Intermediate Level Education, and multiple operational medical training programs. His military honors include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and membership in the Order of Military Medical Merit. He is married to Armin Flurschuetz of Bavaria, Germany.
