Developing mechanical and material designs that more closely mimic nature delivers contact lenses that work in tandem with the eye. The eye is an amazing organ. By taking our lessons from it, we can develop innovative lenses that benefit patients in terms of both vision and comfort.
Join AFOS Member, Dr. Sean Dempsey, as he presents a 1-hour COPE course titled, "What Lies Beneath A Review and Update on Pachychoroid Disease"
This course will outline the clinical, fundoscopic, tomographic, and angiographic features of the pachychoroid spectrum of disease. The course will focus on disease identification and differentiation from other chorioretinal disorders, as well as management strategies and possible emerging treatments and systemic associations.

Dr Moody has been employed by Johnson and Johnson Vision Care Inc. in Jacksonville, FL since 2005. He graduated from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania in 1979 with a BS in Biology and then received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1983. After graduation Dr. Moody joined the Eye Care Specialists of North East Pennsylvania; one of the largest MD/OD practices in Pennsylvania where he practiced for 22 years as the Director of Optometric Services. During this time, he became both a Fellow and a Diplomate in the Cornea, Contact Lens and Refractive Technologies Section of the American Academy of Optometry. While in practice he held the office of President of the North East Pennsylvania Optometric Society was OD of the Year and was appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania to the State Board of Optometry.
During the time Dr Moody has been employed at J&J he has spent 13 years in R&D in multiple positions leadership positions. During this R&D tenure, he was part of the teams that developed both 1-Day Acuvue TruEye and led the team that developed 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism. Dr Moody also was the R&D lead that developed 1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocal. It was the development of this product for which Dr Moody and his team were awarded the prestigious Johnson Medal. In 2015 Dr Moody became the Director of the Clinical Science group, charged with the creation of clinical development plans for new contact lens products and the establishment of the clinical science behind these products. He then spent two years helping with the newest J&J business; Ocular Surface Disease where he was responsible for the professional education and KOL management. Most recently, in 2000 Dr Moody has returned to the Vision Care side of the business taking the position of Director of Professional Education for North America.
Dr Moody is a Board Member of the Alumni Association of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He and his wife Georgia have 3 children.
